The Microsoft®
Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma is an integrated set of software components, templates and best practices guides customized specifically for businesses implementing Six Sigma initiatives across their organization. Leveraging the power of the Microsoft Office System, the accelerator helps Six Sigma professionals more effectively manage a large number of Six Sigma projects, accurately track the financial impact of their efforts to date, optimally utilize human resources, administer Six Sigma tools, and electronically share knowledge gathered across the enterprise.

  • Six Sigma process management. Through an interactive project guide integrated into Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, Six Sigma teams can interactively follow step-by-step processes through each phase of the Deliver, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) model.

  • Efficient project tracking. With enterprise management tools to monitor the number of Six Sigma projects under way, Six Sigma Master Black Belts, Black Belts and Green Belts* have more visibility into project status, which helps them determine whether appropriate manager approvals have been secured. Furthermore, by adding integration with Microsoft Office Outlook®
2003, Six Sigma team members are able to provide project updates more easily and intuitively.

  • At-a-glance financial tracking. Advanced methods for tracking financial results from Six Sigma projects give Master Black Belts and executives a clear picture of the financial impact. Data can be reported with Microsoft Office PowerPoint®
2003 and Internet Explorer with Microsoft Office Project Web Access to access a variety of role-based views. Project managers can also easily refresh monthly operating reports with the new Data Assistant tool for PowerPoint 2003.

  • Closer resource tracking. By leveraging resource management tools provided by Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, companies can obtain a snapshot of the number of Master Black Belts, Black Belts and Green Belts they have, identify team members by skill set, match the strongest team members to the most critical projects, and forecast when they will be available to take on new projects.

  • Automate and simplify tasks. Easy integration with other Microsoft Office System products enables project teams to automate and streamline tasks. For example, automated Microsoft PowerPoint reporting tools help alleviate the labor-intensive process of generating daily reports so teams can devote more time on their work, rather than reporting on it.

Using as its backbone the Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management platform (EPM) — comprising Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003 and Microsoft Windows® SharePoint®
Services for collaboration — the Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma delivers the tools, guidance and support Six Sigma professionals need to succeed.
