PARIS, Sept. 9, 2004 — At an exclusive event yesterday in Paris for European journalists, Microsoft Corp. proved that mice and keyboards are anything but ordinary, debuting nine new peripherals that add to the company’s lineup of innovative features and eye-catching designs. Combining innovative technology with haute couture, the day’s events included keynote addresses from Jean-Philippe Courtois, chief executive officer of Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa and senior vice president of Microsoft; and Philippe Starck, the renowned French designer who recently collaborated with the company on the design of a new optical mouse.
The nearly 90 journalists also received product demonstrations of Microsoft’s new mice and keyboards, including its first fingerprint-reader products that conveniently replace user names and passwords for quick and easy login to PCs and favorite Web sites. In addition, the journalists attended round-table presentations with Microsoft executives to discuss the convenience, comfort, mobility and style these new products deliver to users’ everyday computing experiences.
The day’s events ended with an evening soire at Maison Baccarat, the palace of crystal and light recently redesigned by Philippe Starck, where the designer unveiled unique candelabras created specifically for this event and designed using the Microsoft®
Optical Mouse by S+ARCK.
