Uniconverse, Microsoft and Sylantro Systems Announce Unified Communications Services Deployment in South Korea

SEOUL, South Korea; REDMOND, Wash.; and CAMPBELL, Calif. — Oct. 1, 2007 — Uniconverse Co. Ltd., the IT services company of Hanjin Group, one of South Korea’s top 10 business groups, with Microsoft Corp. and Sylantro Systems Corp., today announced that Uniconverse is deploying the Microsoft® Solution for Enhanced VoIP Services. The solution includes Sylantro’s leading multiplay application feature server and will provide hosted unified communications services to Hanjin Group companies, including Korean Air, as well as other enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in South Korea. Uniconverse has launched this service at Korean Air and expects to be providing commercial service to 10,000 business users by the end of 2007.

The Microsoft solution combines the Sylantro multiplay application feature server and Synergy Collaboration Gateway with hosted versions of Microsoft products, including Office Live Communications Server, Exchange Server and Windows® SharePoint® Services. With this solution in place, Uniconverse can offer end users converged communications services such as voice, e-mail, presence, instant messaging, collaboration and desktop capabilities — all within the familiar Microsoft desktop environment.

“With this integrated unified communications service, Uniconverse is uniquely prepared and equipped to address Korea’s business communications challenges,” said Won Tae Cho, president of Uniconverse. “By leveraging the systems integration expertise of Hanjin and our deep understanding of the enterprise and SMB markets — particularly in the logistics, healthcare and education sectors as well as other vertical markets — Uniconverse provides an advanced, tailored solution that meets the specific requirements of customers in a wide range of industries.”

“Uniconverse’s implementation underscores the tremendous demand for hosted unified communications and collaboration services among enterprises and SMBs alike,” said Michael O’Hara, general manager of the Communications Sector at Microsoft. “Hanjin and Uniconverse have significant experience providing a range of IT services to Korean businesses, and the addition of unified communications solution to their product portfolio will enable them to deliver even greater value to their customers.”

“Sylantro developed this solution with carrier-grade scalability and reliability in mind,” said Marco Limena, CEO of Sylantro Systems. “With Microsoft’s and our sophisticated business telephony capabilities, a simple and consistent user interface, and rich presence information, we have been able to rapidly provide a large, pioneering organization such as Hanjin with a solution to enhance business productivity.”

Sylantro recently opened a sales and support office in Seoul. “The Korean market is important for Sylantro, as are our joint initiatives with Microsoft in the region. Establishing a presence in Korea allows us to provide customers and partners such as Uniconverse with enhanced, personalized support,” Limena said.
