Windows Embedded: More Than 1,000 Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists Strong

REDMOND, Wash. — July 19, 2010 — This month the Windows Embedded Business is celebrating an important milestone: more than 1,000 professionals received their Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certificate for Windows Embedded technologies. Just three years ago this program was launched to provide a way for developers to demonstrate to customers, peers and employers that they are committed to advancing their skills and taking on greater challenges.

“The market for smart, specialized devices built on Windows Embedded technologies is growing at a rapid pace,” said Sondra Webber, senior marketing manager for the Windows Embedded Business at Microsoft. “The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist for Windows Embedded certifications provide a clear way for our customers to identify qualified candidates to work on the growing number of Windows Embedded projects happening around the world. We’re thrilled with the positive response to the program.”

Not familiar with this program? Achieving a Microsoft Certification helps provide professionals with up-to-date, relevant skills that can help lead to a more fulfilling career. In fact, according to a survey from Redmond Magazine, 43 percent of survey respondents report salary increases as a result of Microsoft Certification.

Microsoft Certification gives professionals that extra something, and Windows Embedded partners no doubt see the value. “With more than 20 Windows Embedded MCTS professionals on our team, we absolutely see the benefits of having certified Windows Embedded professionals on staff,” Yannick Chammings, CEO of Adeneo Embedded, told Microsoft. “It’s a great method for us to know a candidate has the type of skill we’re looking for, and a strong proof point of our system integration expertise for our customers.”

Whether you’re looking to increase your knowledge on a specific platform or earn multiple certifications, Microsoft has you covered with this program. Best of all, you don’t need years of experience prior to signing up: beginners are welcomed as well as seasoned technology veterans.

Current Windows Embedded certifications are as follows:

“Earning the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certifications for Windows Embedded has really given me the tools needed to manage a growing team of Windows Embedded developers focusing on Board Support Packages (BSP) and Silverlight applications development,” said Joe Broxson, senior Windows Embedded consultant at Adeneo Embedded America. “I encourage my peers to take the tests if they’re interested in advancing their careers and leveraging their skills on Windows Embedded technologies.”
