Microsoft announced 54 Azure regions in fiscal year 2018, more than any other cloud provider, with services available in 140 countries worldwide. The expansion bolstered the company’s position as a global leader in cloud computing.
Microsoft added nearly 500 new Azure capabilities, launched first-of-their-kind hybrid and cloud-to-edge solutions Azure Stack and Azure Sphere, and closed a record number of multimillion-dollar commercial cloud agreements.
“We are investing aggressively to build Azure as the world’s computer,” CEO Satya Nadella said.
