Cloud marketing veteran joins Microsoft’s senior leadership team in Asia Pacific

20-year industry leader and diversity advocate joins from Salesforce, where she was the Vice President of Marketing for Asia Pacific

Singapore, June 30, 2017 – Microsoft today announced the appointment of Wendy Johnstone as the new General Manager, Marketing & Operations for Asia Pacific from July 3, 2017.

Johnstone joins Microsoft from Salesforce, where she was most recently the Vice President of Marketing for Asia Pacific. A veteran with over 20 years of experience, she held numerous senior marketing leadership positions at Salesforce, EMC and IBM, and has built an excellent track record in generating leads and driving growth.

Based in Singapore, Johnstone will be responsible for spearheading all marketing activities and operations for Microsoft in the region, including Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and other emerging Asian markets such as Bangladesh, Brunei, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

She will also be responsible for the overall orchestration of regional Go-To-Market sales in these markets, driving the revenue, market share and profit-and-loss performance of all Microsoft business groups.

Johnstone will execute the company’s renewed vision to empower every person and every organization to the planet to achieve more. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, recently highlighted the company’s goal of bringing the power of the cloud to customers’ mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, enabling an intelligent edge that delivers compute capabilities to the places where their data exists. This will greatly accelerate the digital transformation journeys of nations, organizations and even individuals.

Commenting on Johnstone’s appointment, Alberto Granados, Microsoft’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations for Asia Pacific said: “I am delighted to have a proven and passionate leader of Wendy’s caliber join the team. Wendy joins Microsoft at an opportune time where her extensive experience, especially her cloud expertise, will be an invaluable asset in helping us accelerate Microsoft’s momentum in Asia Pacific’s fast-growing markets.”

Johnstone said: “It is an absolute privilege to join such an amazing team and I am looking forward to achieving great things for our customers, partners, communities and company with the team. With the proliferation of cloud and mobile devices, interest and advances in artificial intelligence and burgeoning youth population, the opportunity ahead of Microsoft in Asia Pacific is huge. “

Johnstone is an ardent advocate for diversity and inclusion; and a champion for women in technology. She was previously the Asia Pacific gender diversity executive sponsor at Salesforce, and expects to further her passion in this area in her new role.
