Andrew Pickup is responsible for aligning Microsoft’s communication capabilities to the company’s overall business goals across Asia Pacific, Greater China, Japan and India. This includes managing the image and reputation of the company, building new communication capabilities and leading a highly committed team of communications professionals across the region.
Prior to his current role, Pickup was the chief marketing officer for Microsoft in Asia Pacific. In this role, he drove the strategic integration of business, marketing and operational leadership across the region, aligning talent and resources to drive growth, win share, improve customer and partner satisfaction and spark innovation.
Pickup joined Microsoft in 1992 and spent over a decade with Microsoft UK, where he held several senior management business and marketing roles, including head of desktop marketing and leading their small business organization.
He moved to Asia in 2003, taking on the role of marketing director at Microsoft Singapore. He was appointed chief marketing officer for the Asia Pacific region in 2007.
Before joining Microsoft, Pickup was an account director with advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi in London and, prior to that, worked in financial services marketing.
In his current leadership role, the Microsoft Asia Communications team has twice been recognized – by Public Affairs Asia and PR Week – as the best in-house Communications team in Asia.
Pickup holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in marketing from Lancaster University in the UK and received post-graduate executive education from Kingston University London, Harvard Business School and Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.
He is married with two teenage daughters and lives in Singapore, where he serves on the board of the British Chamber of Commerce – and also chairs their ICT Committee – and is visiting lecturer at Singapore Management University.
