Zurich, 03 September 2024 – Microsoft announced today the successful deployment of Copilot for Microsoft 365 at Swiss Re, marking a significant milestone in the longstanding strategic partnership between the two companies. This rollout highlights the power of smart AI deployment in enhancing operational efficiency and upskilling the workforce in highly regulated sectors.

Swiss Re, a global leader in re/insurance, made Copilot for Microsoft 365 globally available in May 2024.  Since then, 3,000 users across the organization have integrated it into their daily work. Swiss Re continues to support the adoption of Copilot with the ambition of facilitating access to this technology for more users over the coming months. The initiative follows Swiss Re’s successful trial of Copilot during Microsoft’s Early Access Program in August 2023, showcasing their commitment to innovation.

«At Microsoft, we are dedicated to empowering organizations with the latest technology to drive efficiency and innovation,» said Ralph Haupter, president of Microsoft EMEA. «Our collaboration with Swiss Re demonstrates how generative AI can be securely integrated into the workflows of highly regulated industries, ensuring data security and confidentiality.»

Copilot is being utilized across Swiss Re’s organization, including HR, communications as well as parts of its core business, to streamline operations and enhance productivity. The six-month service curation period allowed Swiss Re to understand the benefits that Copilot could bring to the organization, setting the stage for a successful broader rollout.

«We are excited to partner with Microsoft to embed AI assistants into our digital workplace. Our cautious deployment ensures safe, valuable, and compliant implementation, while maintaining rigorous data security standards,» said Pravina Ladva, Group Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Swiss Re. «With Copilot for Microsoft 365, we’re empowering our colleagues with advanced tools to increase efficiency and spark creativity. At Swiss Re, we’re firmly committed to continuously upskilling our workforce and integrating cutting-edge technology.»

Copilot leverages large language models (LLMs) combined with data in the Microsoft Graph — including calendar, emails, chats, documents, and meetings — and Microsoft 365 apps to provide real-time intelligent assistance. This integration helps Swiss Re employees enhance creativity, productivity, and skills, automating tedious tasks and aiding decision-making. As such, this successful Copilot deployment is a prime example of how generative AI can drive innovation in sectors where data security and confidentiality are crucial.
