* Microsoft provides integrated and automated IT security for Victorinox
* Central ‘single pane of glass’ platform makes administration simpler across entire IT landscape.
Victorinox AG – well-known for its iconic Swiss Army Knife™, household and professional knives, as well as watches and travel gear – is embracing cutting-edge digital solutions to secure its IT infrastructure, optimize resources and meet new and emerging demands across its global organization and local subsidiaries.
Based in the town of Ibach, in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, this 141-year-old Swiss brand is strengthening its collaboration with Microsoft through the implementation of new software that will support its vision to establish a secure, efficient, cloud-based IT landscape that meets the strictest security standards, while providing a system that is flexible enough to respond to future challenges.
Following the successful implementation of Microsoft 365 in 2019, including Teams as its central platform for collaboration and communication, Victorinox has now migrated to Microsoft Defender XDR/Microsoft 365 E5, a suite that combines best-in-class productivity apps with advanced security, compliance, and analytical capabilities, to bring its security architecture into line with the state-of-the-art, while significantly improving the efficiency of its IT setup. The company now has all its security solutions integrated in the central ‘single pane of glass’ platform, making administration much simpler across the entire IT landscape.
The new solution provides vulnerability management, allowing Victorinox to quickly identify any security loopholes, and makes precise recommendations for remedial action – an important element of the new infrastructure. Software suites such as Defender for Identity brings transparency to many areas, such as local directory services. Another advantage of the new Microsoft 365 E5 suite is that the solutions are scalable. Subsidiary companies can independently integrate additional devices and servers, all of which makes global rollout even more efficient.
“The decision to migrate to the enhanced E5 suite showed us how versatile and powerful modern security solutions can be,” said Roger Betschart, Head of IT Architecture, Security & Operations at Victorinox. “We were particularly impressed by the way different security features are integrated in a single central platform – called the ‘single pane of glass’. This transparency and simplicity was what we were looking for, as we embrace digital solutions and preserve our 141-year heritage. Microsoft is supporting us in reimagining our digital future while protecting our legacy of reliability, precision, and quality.”
“Security is a strategic imperative, but the Microsoft 365 E5 implementation is more than merely a technical upgrade. It’s a comprehensive trust and protection strategy that spans the global operations of Victorinox,” said Martin Haas, Director Small Medium Corporate at Microsoft Switzerland. “Migrating to Microsoft 365 E5 has enabled Victorinox to reduce the complexity of its security landscape, while also bringing lasting improvements in both efficiency and security.”
