Microsoft Builds World’s Most Powerful AI Datacenter

Microsoft is building the world’s most powerful AI datacenter in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. The Fairwater facility will deliver 10 times the performance of today’s fastest supercomputer, enabling AI training and inference workloads at a level never before seen, powered by hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs connected by enough fiber to circle the Earth 4.5 times.

Fairwater is part of a global network of purpose-built AI datacenters, including new projects in Narvik, Norway, and Loughton, U.K., all integrated into Microsoft’s cloud of more than 400 datacenters across 70 regions. These facilities are designed to run frontier AI models at unprecedented scale, enabling breakthroughs in research, industry, and everyday productivity.

In June, Microsoft also announced a AI infrastructure investment in Switzerland, giving local customers access to the latest GPUs and Azure AI capabilities.
