Ralph Haupter, Chairman of the Managing Board Microsoft Germany: Germany must become the leading cloud nation in Europe

Microsoft’s own specific contribution is the launch of the initiative ”Chancenrepublik Deutschland” (Germany, Republic of Opportunities) on CeBIT. The initiative showcas-es how cloud innovations contribute to solving social challenges in Germany in 30 projects supported by Microsoft.

Together with partners from the German industry, Microsoft presents numerous innovative cloud solutions which prove the potentials of cloud computing for founders, small and medium-sized enterprises and large businesses: with Microsoft, T-Systems will in the future offer standard solutions for enhanced collaboration and communication with Microsoft Office, Exchange, Lync and SharePoint out of their own German high-security data centers. And, enterprise customers and users in the public sector will no longer have to make their way to the printer to label letters. The integration of the e-mail letter of Deutsche Post into Microsoft Office based on the concept of the modern administration workplace will enable the direct use in management and business processes.

Windows Intune which will be available worldwide on March 23 also brings more efficiency to businesses through cloud-based PC management services. It facilitates easy management, security processes and the installation of new software on PCs over a simple, web-based console from anywhere.

Productivity increases and cost savings in the media and movie business are delivered by the ScreenerONE solution based on Windows Azure which Arvato developed in collaboration with Grundy-UFA: video sequences, sound, storyboards and scripts are composed into  ”Verbotene Liebe” (German television serial drama) through the cloud.

Chancenrepublik Deutschland: new innovation initiative

On March 1, 2011 at CeBIT, Microsoft Germany launches the ”Chancenrepublik Deutschland”, a new initiative aimed to promote social progress through IT innovations. Within the run of the initiative, Microsoft will support at least 30 pilot projects over the next three years to show how IT accelerates social changes. IT innovations can deliver solutions to key social challenges – the digital divide, educational plight, unemployment, effects of over-aging on the healthcare system, climate change and political participation.

New applications and end devices: consumerization of IT

The cloud creates new usage scenarios for mobile end devices such as Tablet PCs, laptops and smart phones which go far beyond consumer applications. The solution ”infonea Cube” from Comma Soft AG which is now also available on a Windows 7 tablet proves that tablets are ideal for business intelligence applications for use in the field. The solution can be simply and securely integrated into customers’ existing infrastructures. With the integration of Internet Explorer 9, Twitter and Windows Live SkyDrive announced for 2011, Windows Phone 7 is more than ever becoming a communications center and information hub.
