Microsoft Opens windows to some of Australia’s favourite brands with five new apps

Gold Coast, AUSTRALIA – 05, September 2013 – Pizza Hut, Ticketek, Xpreshon, Carsales.com.au and PageUp People today announced the release of new apps on the Windows and Windows Phone platforms at Microsoft’s TechEd conference on the Gold Coast. The new apps provide Australians with a convenient platform to get tickets to the latest sport and entertainment events, an easy gateway to a favourite takeaway, a new home for all of the hottest sports and action content, a simpler way to sell or buy a car and a contemporary approach to job searching.

“Providing Australian consumers with quality experiences is a key focus for us, and these new apps offer localised, seamless services to Australians from virtually anywhere, whenever they want, on their Windows devices and Windows Phone handsets,” said Chris Bright, Head of Apps Business Development, Microsoft Australia. “While we are celebrating the launch of five new apps across the Windows platforms, two of these brands, Carsales and Pizza Hut, are marking their second Windows app. Both companies recognised the value and advantages of engaging with Windows customers across the Windows 8 and Windows Phone platforms and took advantage of the streamlined process of porting the apps across both.”

The new apps add to an ever expanding range of options in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. In May, Microsoft announced it had surpassed 250 million Windows Store downloads, and that almost 90% of its app catalog was being downloaded every month. The Windows Phone Store has more than 170,000 apps and games.
