Increasing productivity and maintaining value, Microsoft’s latest devices include an Office 365 Personal subscription and are upgradeable to Windows 10

14 April, 2015 – Sydney, Australia: Microsoft today announced the launch of the Lumia 640 in Australia, priced at just $299 RRP and the Lumia 640 XL, available for an affordable $399 RRP. The latest devices to join the Lumia portfolio in-market offer increased productivity through seamlessly integrated Microsoft Office experiences, OneDrive[1] storage and fast 4G connectivity.

Lumia and Microsoft are stronger together and with the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL users can access the very best of Microsoft services, including Microsoft Office, Skype, OneNote and Cortana Alpha right out of the box, to help people accomplish more on the go.

The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will upgrade to, and benefit from, the core features of Windows 10 as it becomes available later this year[2]. Purchasers of the devices will also receive a 12 month Office 365 Personal Subscription, valued at $89 RRP.

The subscription will be available for use across various platforms including one PC or Mac, and one tablet, including a Windows tablet, iPad® or Android tablet, plus easy access on one smartphone.

The Office 365 Personal subscription includes:

  • Latest full desktop version of Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook
  • Extra subscription benefits include one TB OneDrive storage for 12 months
  • 60 Skype world minutes of calling per month for 12 months to 60+ country landlines and mobiles in 8 countries

The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL’s banding and 4G capabilities make the devices an ideal match for the Australian market. With a continued increase in consumers accessing and viewing content on their mobile phones, Microsoft continues to meet changing consumer demands to offer premium mobile experiences at lower price points. The devices also offer access to hundreds of thousands of apps including favourites like Facebook, Uber, Instagram, WhatsApp and TripAdvisor.

“People are looking for a device which brings them more flexibility to switch easily between work and play, without breaking the bank” said Steve Lewis, General Manager of Microsoft Devices in Australia and New Zealand.

“The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will keep people prepared for anything, with the full range of Microsoft experiences and a one year subscription to Office 365 Personal. With the Lumia 640 people will enjoy key benefits that make Windows Phones unique, like Cortana alpha, detail rich photos and personalised Live Tiles, all at a low cost. The release of the Lumia 640XL, a powerful new phablet, reflects the changing ways that consumers are doing business and accessing content, offering easy viewing on the go.”
