CRM Online certification adds to our commitment as the most complete and trusted cloud provider in Australia

James Kavanagh, CTO, Microsoft Australia

Trust is a vital part of any relationship and at Microsoft it’s an essential component in our interaction with our partners and our customers.

Public and private sector organisations and individuals across Australia trust Microsoft with their data. They expect it to be protected, they expect to remain in control of that data and they expect to be able to satisfy their compliance obligations. They also want the choice and flexibility to use a combination of private, public and hybrid cloud services.

That’s why I am pleased to share that Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online has completed Certification to Australian Government security requirements for unclassified sensitive government data via Australian Government’s Independent Registered Assessors Program (IRAP). This provides an assurance that any government agency can confidently adopt our cloud services, knowing that the security protections in place reach the high bar set by the Australian Signals Directorate.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online has completed Certification to Australian Government security requirements for unclassified sensitive government data via Australian Government’s Independent Registered Assessors Program

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is the first customer relationship management solution able to provide this level of assurance in Australia, complementing our existing Certification of Office 365 and Microsoft Azure under the same program. Microsoft is the only cloud provider in Australia delivering a complete set of trusted cloud services covering Infrastructure-as-a-Service for computing, storage, database services and identity management; Platform-as-a-Service for modern applications; Software-as-a-Service for productivity and customer relationship management.

This certification is for the handling of unclassified but sensitive data, known as Unclassified (DLM) within Australian government. This includes the majority of state and federal government data including private and personally identifiable information.

These announcements come on the back of the recent news that leading global professional services firm KPMG is rolling out Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM Online to its 5000 Australian employees, as well as becoming a Microsoft Dynamics partner in Australia.

For KPMG Australia, the question of trust was a critical one. Simon Benson, Partner, Technology Advisory, KPMG Australia, said that the company was impressed with Microsoft’s approach to the security and privacy of data.

“We went through an extensive and competitive process in choosing our own CRM system and Dynamics came out on top through its ability to harness business intelligence, deliver a highly connected enterprise sales model all on top of a trusted cloud foundation. The privacy of data is vital to us and to our customers,” he said.

“Today’s announcement regarding the IRAP assessment for CRM Online is just another demonstration of Microsoft’s commitment to protecting its customers.”

Those words truly reflect our attitude. We are known as the most trusted cloud provider and that’s shaped by our long-held focus on the security and privacy of customer data, which is ingrained into our culture.

We know that the cloud offers important transformative power – from small businesses looking to scale internationally or enterprises looking to empower thousands of employees with mobile work capabilities, to local governments improving services for citizens.

That power will, however, only be fully realised when people trust it.

Earning and maintaining this trust does not happen overnight. It requires a long term commitment from providers to deliver security innovation and be accountable for technical and operational excellence.  It also necessitates strong contractual commitments along with compliance to the appropriate local regulations and processes that help to safeguard privacy and security.  It’s about applying the best global capabilities with an understanding of the distinct local requirements here in Australia.

This announcement on our IRAP certification for CRM Online is just one more step in our enduring commitment to delivering the most complete and trusted cloud.
