Microsoft Australia announces plans to hire 120 people for new Asia Inside Sales Centre

Sydney is the location for new Asia Inside Sales Centre, delivering a new digital sales experience for customers in the region

Sydney, Australia – 11 April 2017: Microsoft today announced it will hire 120 people, increasing its commitment to Australia. Following the selection of Sydney as the location for one of four global Inside Sales Centres, 120 new digital seller roles have been created.

The 120 digital inside sales professionals are being recruited immediately to serve customers from the state-of-the-art Inside Sales Centre to be created in Sydney. The establishment of an Asia Inside Sales Centre supports the evolution of Microsoft’s interaction with customers and partners –  transforming and digitising the sales experience. The Asia Inside Sales Centre will enable highly trained sellers to leverage leading-edge technology platforms and analytics to better meet the needs of customers, with the right touch at the right point in their journey.

The Asia Inside Sales Centre will be serving customers across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and in over 9 different languages.

Microsoft is also establishing three Sales Satellites in India, China, and Japan to serve customers specifically in each of these local markets. This will ensure a sales experience for customers which is personalised to address their business opportunities, and enables them to engage with Microsoft through their preferred channel. The Asia Inside Sales Centre joins a global network of four Worldwide Inside Sales Centres with others in Dublin, Ireland (serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa); Fargo, USA (serving the US and Canada) and San Jose, Costa Rica (serving Latin America).

Steven Worrall, Managing Director, Microsoft Australia said, “As we continue to digitally transform Microsoft, I am delighted Sydney has been chosen as the location for one of four global Worldwide Inside Sales Centres. We are committed to our business in Australia and this Inside Sales Centre investment builds on additional local investments, which includes two Cloud Datacentre regions in Australia with local cloud services for Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365, and our flagship Microsoft Store in Sydney.”

Steven Worrall continued, “WW Inside Sales provides an opportunity for talented people with a passion for technology and for helping customers achieve business success to join us and enjoy an exciting and rewarding career at Microsoft. If you start here with us in Inside Sales, you will have the opportunity to develop your career within the company with almost limitless opportunities both here and abroad.”

NSW Industry Minister, Niall Blair said Microsoft’s investment was a fantastic vote of confidence in the state’s strengths in information technology and digital innovation. “Microsoft’s decision to choose Sydney as one of only four global centres for its Asia Inside Sales Team is great news and recognition of the unique and highly skilled workforce we have here in NSW.

“Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world – more than a third of the population is now born overseas and there are over 200 languages commonly spoken making Sydney a natural home for Microsoft’s new Asia Inside Sales Centre.”

Michele Marrapese, General Manager, Asia Inside Sales said, “The way we meet our customers’ needs is changing. We are creating an industry-leading digital marketing and data-driven sales approach to engage customers on their terms. We are looking for people to join us as we create the future of digital selling. The team we hire in Sydney will play a vital role in empowering our customers and partners across Asia, drawing on the full array of Microsoft products and services in an era of digital transformation.”

The recruitment process for the newly created Inside Sales roles in Australia has already begun, but truly gets underway today with an ambition to have the multilingual organisation fully operational by mid-2017. While many roles require language capability or previous sales and technical experience, the company is also seeking to recruit graduates who have the passion and aptitude necessary for these exciting opportunities. Microsoft offers an extensive array of benefits in addition to a competitive package for the right candidates. Individuals with the relevant skills are being offered the opportunity to enjoy an exciting and rewarding career with one of the world’s leading technology companies.

Microsoft today stated that the WW Inside Sales digital seller roles across the organisation are designed so that candidates may benefit from a progressive career path, including continuous investments in personalised professional development plans which will include the opportunity to secure additional qualifications and accredited certifications to help them become world class digital sellers.
