Executive Biographies

Salim leads our Specialist Sales organisation, the STU, in Australia and New Zealand, responsible for our AI, Cloud and technical sales specialists across all of our cloud platforms for Enterprise customers. 

Salim brings more than 20 years at Microsoft, working at the intersection of cloud, data and AI. Most recently, he led Microsoft’s AI and Agents strategy across Asia as AI & Agents Timezone Leader, driving the end-to-end Azure AI business across India, Japan, Korea, ASEAN, Greater China and ANZ, and bringing together engineering, sales and technical specialists to deliver production-ready solutions across industries from financial services and government to manufacturing and healthcare. 

Over his career at Microsoft, Salim has progressed from researcher to developer to enterprise architect to regional CTO to AI market shaper. He has built and led high-performing teams, including Microsoft’s elite AI PODs and Global Black Belt specialists, influenced Azure product direction, and accelerated the adoption of frontier AI and data solutions across the region. He brings a thoughtful, people-focused leadership style alongside deep technical expertise. 

Salim is also a guest lecturer at Monash University’s Masters of Data Science program, where he shares real-world lessons from delivering AI innovation at scale. Originally from Australia, he holds a degree in computing and instrumentation and an MBA in Technology Management. Outside of work, he is an avid golfer and a passionate follower of Australian Football.
