Tom Daemen
Director, Corporate, External & Legal Affairs, ANZ
As the Director of Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) for Microsoft Australia and New Zealand, Tom leads a regional team responsible for a wide array of legal, public policy and commercial issues. These issues have only become more complex with the opening of Microsoft data centers in Australia and the remarkable uptake of cloud services in both countries. The CELA team enjoys a challenge, however, and welcomes the opportunity to help our customers and work with public and private sector stakeholders on these cutting-edge topics.
Tom has previously held a number of key roles in Microsoft. Most recently, he led the Communications and Productivity legal team, which was responsible for, among other things, Skype, Skype for Business, Office, and OneNote.
Tom holds legal degrees from Europe and the United States and is both an English Solicitor and a U.S. qualified lawyer. His pre-Microsoft experience includes many years working in Brussels, where he helped companies navigate the European Union’s legal and political maze and launch products and online services across the region.
