Microsoft Traineeship Program overview

Microsoft Australia is very proud of the newly created Microsoft Traineeship Program, which aims to create a new, diverse pipeline of exceptional IT talent in Australia.

The pilot recently commenced with the first cohort of 38 trainees in Sydney in February 2019. These trainees will receive a Certificate IV in Information Technology and Microsoft Certifications with paid work experience. This combination of knowledge and experience will set students up to embark upon a successful career, as well as help address the technical skills shortage in Australia.

Working with strategic delivery partners MEGT, Prodigy Learning and TAFE NSW — as well as the network of Microsoft partners around the country such as oobe, KPMG and Veritec (just to name a few) — Microsoft aims to support 150 people in taking their first steps into a technology career in 2019.

For Microsoft partners and customers interested in hosting a Microsoft Trainee, this is an opportunity to get access to new and emerging talent from a diverse talent pool.

For aspiring trainees, this program provides an excellent foot-in-the-door to an exciting and rewarding career in IT.

The pilot program in Sydney has seen:

  • Over 2500 applications submitted within 3 months of launching program
  • Diverse talent pool of 38 trainees from various cultural, professional and personal backgrounds
  • 40% female placements
  • 14 host partner companies onboarded
