Microsoft Australia is very proud of the newly created Microsoft Traineeship Program, which aims to create a new, diverse pipeline of exceptional IT talent in Australia. After the successful launch of our first two cohorts in Sydney and Canberra we have now expanded the program to South Australia and Victoria – both cohorts commencing in late 2019.
The program has been designed to combine education and on-the-job experience that will set students up to embark upon a budding IT career. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will receive a nationally accredited qualification, Certificate IV in Information Technology, and some of the latest cloud computing Microsoft certifications as part of the Azure Administrator Certification Track. We are also excited to announce a new Dynamics track, with the pilot to commence in Victoria late 2019.
Working with strategic delivery partners MEGT, Prodigy Learning, TAFE and CIT — as well as the network of Microsoft customers and partners around the country such as ANZ, KPMG, Dicker Data, oobe, Winc, Veritec and DXC (just to name a few) — Microsoft aims to support this new pathway for passionate individuals looking to get into IT while also addressing the technical skills shortage in Australia.
For Microsoft partners and customers interested in hosting a trainee, this is an opportunity to get access to new and emerging talent from a diverse pool of candidates.
For aspiring trainees, this program provides an excellent foot-in-the-door to an exciting and rewarding career in IT.
Program highlights to date:
- Over 2500 applications submitted within 3 months of launching the program
- Currently running two cohorts in Sydney and Canberra with diverse talent pool of 53 trainees from various cultural, professional and personal backgrounds
- 27 host partner companies onboarded
- Expanding program to Adelaide and Melbourne, commencing cohorts in both states late 2019
- Piloting Dynamics track in Melbourne due to high industry demand
