Microsoft helps the next generation of young girls get into IT

Little Miss Geek aims to inspire the next generation of young girls to become tech pioneers. Trying to get more girls to consider a career in IT is something we’re really keen on at Microsoft which is why we sponsored Little Miss Geek event today, on International Girls in ICT Day. The Little Miss Geek team visited an inner city girl’s secondary school in London to explore the fusion between fashion and technology – and it was a great success.

Little Miss Geek is trying to change the stereotype that careers in IT are for geeky guys and encourage girls to consider a career in the exciting, fast-paced industry – and we at Microsoft want to see this too!

Charu Desodt, one of our games producers at Lift London Studio talked to the girls about how you don’t need to be technology obsessed or even overly knowledgeable to consider a career in it. We were so chuffed that Clara Mercer from the British Fashion Council, Francesca Rosella from Cute Circuit and Ed Vaizey attended and spoke to the girls too. It was a great day!
