Amos Miller lights up the world through sound at TEDx Glasgow

You may have seen or read about Microsoft’s Cities Unlocked project launched last November. Placing the individual rather than the technology at the centre of the experience, Cities Unlocked augments the ability of people with sight loss to employ their sense of hearing to navigate the world around them. The inspiration and author of the project, Amos Miller, Director of Enterprise Strategy at Microsoft Asia, shared his personal experience of the project on stage at TEDx Glasgow last month.

Amos Miller was born with a genetic eye disease that later led to sight loss. A Microsoft employee and trustee of Guide Dogs who is visually impaired, Amos was inspired by fatherhood to bring this project into being. According to the charity Guide Dogs, of the 2 million people living with sight loss in the UK, more than 180 thousand never leave home alone.
