
Nearly 30 schools took part in the final

The children had to build the rocket cars themselves

One team took out spokes from the wheels to reduce weight

The cars were cut from blocks of foam

The challenge was to make them as aerodynamic as possible

Every car also had to carry a BBC micro:bit

The micro:bit would measure the speed of the car

SOme teams had many members , while others just had one

The BBC micro:bit is a small, programmable computer

The cars line up on the starting line

Small rockets were inserted into the cars

The rockets would send the cars speeding along at nearly 50mph

WHen the track was clear, the button was pressed to launch the cars
