Xbox has kicked off its presence at the world’s largest video game show by announcing a new FIFA package.
Aaron Greenberg, Xbox Head of Marketing, used the start of Gamescom, in Cologne, Germany, to unveil the Xbox One S FIFA 17 bundle in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. Fans buying the new console – which is available with a 500GB or 1TB hard drive – will get exclusive content in FIFA Ultimate Team, which allows you to choose your own formation and pick legendary footballers such as Pele alongside current players in your starting 11.
Meanwhile, EA Access members will get to play FIFA 17 first exclusively on Xbox One from September 22 – five days before it is released.
Gamescom, which attracts 345,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors from 88 countries, is set to be a big event for Microsoft as it occurs just weeks after the company released the Xbox One S. The new console sold out in less than a day when it went on sale in the UK.
It is also the first Gamescom since Microsoft unveiled its new Play Anywhere feature, which lets people buy a digital game and play it on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. New Xbox Live features also make it easier to find and play with other gamers.
Gamescom also marks the third anniversary of Microsoft’s independent gaming platform. [email protected] now works with more than 1,000 developers in over 60 countries and has helped to launch 300 titles. Meanwhile, Xbox Game Preview has been extended to Windows 10, which gives gamers the chance to preview and purchase work-in-progress digital titles, participate in the development process and help developers to improve their games. One of our first titles available later this year will be Everspace by Rockfish Games.
