Verdun and Sublevel Zero Redux: the latest games you should play this weekend

The latest gamess to land on the Windows Store this week range from incredibly realistic First World War first-person shooter Verdun, to dizzying gunship action in Sublevel Zero Redux.

There’s something for zombie fans too, and even the perfect title for fans of… mouse clicking:

Verdun

Inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916, this is the first multiplayer first-person-shooter set in a realistic First World War setting. The merciless trench warfare offers a unique battlefield experience, immersing you and your squad in intense battles of attack and defence. There are also many historically accurate features such as realistic First World War weaponry, authentic uniforms and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium.

Sublevel Zero Redux

This colourful first-person-shooter is set in a universe where reality is, unfortunately, falling apart. That’s OK though – you’re a fiesty gunship pilot whose mission is to loot and craft ancient technology. Descend into a vast underground facility, fighting through procedurally generated zero-gravity environments to recover the technology you and your clan need to survive.

Ever wondered what one quadrillion damage per second feels like? Wonder no more. Embark on your quest to attain it today. It’s all rather simple, really. You start out by clicking on the monster to kill them, and get their gold. Spend that gold on hiring new heroes and you’ll do more damage. The more damage you deal, the more gold you will get, growing your power exponentially. Your heroes will farm monsters and automatically collect the gold while you’re gone too, so you’ve got plenty of loot to welcome you on your return.
