Manchester rivals will lead the Premier League this weekend, Bing predicts

Manchester will be home to the top two clubs in the Premier League after this weekend’s matches, Bing has predicted.

Microsoft’s search engine gives Manchester City a 45% chance of sweeping aside Liverpool on Saturday to jump from fourth to second. They will be two points behind leaders Manchester United, who are due to beat Stoke.

Pep Guardiola’s team have lost only one of their past eight home Premier League meetings against Liverpool, and only one of their past 23 league matches at the Etihad against any opposition.

With their match kicking off at 12:30pm, the Sky Blues will top the league for a few hours until Man United’s game ends at 7:15pm. The Red Devils are yet to concede a goal in their three matches this season; and with new striker Romelu Lukaku scoring 16 goals and assisting two more in his past 18 Premier League matches, they have a 43% chance of taking three points at Stoke.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Huddersfield will drop out of the top four, after defeats against Man City and West Ham respectively. The Hammers, who are bottom of the table, will notch up their first points of the season on Monday (45% chance), ending a run of three successive losses.

West Bromwich Albion will move up into third after their victory at Brighton (50% chance), with current champions Chelsea one place behind following their win at Leicester (39% chance).

At the other end of the table, Arsenal will move away from the relegation zone with a win over Bournemouth. The Gunners have lost their previous two games but Bing gives Arsene Wenger’s men a 55% chance of getting their season back on track on Saturday. Arsenal have not lost three successive Premier League matches since January 2012 and their three home matches against Bournemouth across all competitions have all ended in victory – the most recent being a 3-1 win last November.

That result will keep Bournemouth in the relegation zone, along with Brighton and Crystal Palace, who are expected to lose to Burnley.

Elsewhere in the league, Tottenham have a 50% chance of beating Everton, Southampton will take all three points at home to Watford, and Swansea will win against Newcastle.

Bing creates its predictions using a complex algorithm that analyses player performance.
