The Xbox One X can be pre-ordered from today, Microsoft has announced.

Gamers can now reserve the most powerful console ever made from select retailers and the Microsoft Store ahead of its release on November 7.

On Tuesday, videogame retailer Game tweeted: “Get ready. The most powerful console in the world is nearly here. Xbox One X pre-orders open tomorrow at 8am.”

Customers will be able to buy the standard edition of the Xbox One X. Pre-orders for a special edition version, which has the words “Project Scorpio” printed on the console and the wireless controller, features a custom colour and comes with a vertical stand, sold out in many countries in less than a week when it was announced last month. It is the fastest-selling Xbox pre-order ever, beating the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox One S consoles in the same timeframe.

The Xbox One X offers 40% more power than rival devices. Its six-teraflop engine and built-in supersampling gives gamers better textures, smoother framerates and faster load times, even on a 1080p TV. Players can record game clips in 4K at 60 frames per second and capture 4K screenshots.

As well as several new releases, more than 130 new and existing titles will be enhanced for the Xbox One X. These include Far Cry 5, LA Noire, Greedfall, Okami HD, Halo 5: Guardians, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, FIFA 18, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Star Wars Battlefront II.

Pre-orders open just a day before the EGX videogame event in Birmingham begins. It will be the only place gamers will be able to play the Xbox One X before it is released. Xbox will host more than 80 playable consoles and PCs at its booth, and fans will be able to play a range of exclusive titles and big-name games from Ubisoft and Warner Bros Interactive, among others.

Sea of Thieves, the shared-world adventure game made by Rare, will be playable for the first time in the UK. Gamers play as pirates, and team up to sail ships, explore the world, find treasure and battle enemies with cannon, swords and muskets.

Other titles that will be playable at EGX include Forza Motorsport 7. The racing game features 700 cars, including the largest collection of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches ever, and has been created to run in ultra-high-definition at 60 frames per second.

Bob Roberts, Design Director for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, which will also be playable at the event, said: “It’s a crazy powerful box. [Shadow of War on Xbox One X] will be the prettiest possible version of the game [among consoles]. We have some dev kits which also load a lot faster. While in development it’s extra nice to load a giant world in a matter of seconds so we can iterate faster. But it will also have faster loading times for players.”

Ashraf Ismail, Game Director for Assassin’s Creed Origins, said: “The experience of the game is the same across all of the different platforms. We try to make sure the game shines on every platform the best it can. Having said that, the Xbox One X version is absolutely the most beautiful version.”

EGX runs from September 21 to 24.
