A limited-edition Xbox One X and controller will be released to mark the latest Gears of War game, Microsoft has announced.
The console will feature a never-before-seen, dark, translucent casing and laser-etched cracks across its surface, and a golden Locust symbol on the back.
It has been made to mark the release of Gears 5, the latest instalment in the hugely popular Gears of War series. The games tell the story of humanity’s fight against a subterranean reptilian enemy known as the Locust Horde and their counterparts the Lambent and the Swarm.
Gears 5 follows Kait Diaz as she seeks to discover the origins of the Swarm in a campaign that is set to be the largest in the series.
The wireless controller features a snow-weathered design inspired by Kait’s armour, an etched trigger grip and rubberized diamond grip. It is compatible with the Xbox One family of devices and includes a 3.5mm stereo headset jack and Bluetooth technology for playing on Windows 10 PCs and tablets.
It will be included in a bundle with the console – the first limited edition Xbox One X since Project Scorpio – that also features a Gears 5 Ultimate Edition download alongside downloads of other games in the franchise. One-month Xbox Game Pass and Live memberships are also included, as well as in-game Ice Kait and Ice Jack character skins.
Players can also purchase the controller on its own, which comes with the Ice Kait skin.
A Gears 5 limited-edition, magnetic contact charging stand has also been unveiled.
The bundle, controller and stand are available to pre-order now at Microsoft Store and selected retailers.
Meanwhile, Razer has developed the first wireless keyboard and mouse for use on Xbox One. The Razer Turret, Gears 5 Edition, features a 2.4GHz Wireless Connection, stable wireless transmission and performance, and Xbox Dynamic Lighting.
A new Gears 5 Razer Thresher headset for Xbox One comes with a bonus in-game item and Lancer weapon skin.
Finally, Seagate has produced a special edition game drive for the games release, featuring a similar frosted design to the console and offering a 2TB hard drive and USB 3.0 Plug and Play capability.
All of these accessories are available to pre-order now.
Gears 5 will be released on September 10, but those with Game Pass Ultimate can play the title four days earlier.
