People using Microsoft Rewards can win a trip to France that includes a unique HoloLens experience of the historic Mont-Saint-Michel.
The company has unveiled a sweepstake offering a six-day trip that includes trips to the Mont-Saint-Michel island, as well as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Musee d’Orsay in Paris, and the Utah and Omaha beaches in Normandy.
Microsoft will also treat winners and a guest of their choice to sightseeing in the French capital, return flights and hotel accommodation.
They will also receive HoloLens experiences in two French museums and Mont-Saint-Michel – a commune located around half a mile off France’s north-west coast. It is visited by more than three million people a year and is included on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. More than 60 buildings within the commune are protected in France as historic monuments.
Rather than put users in a fully computer-generated world, as virtual reality does, HoloLens allows users to place 3D digital models in the room alongside them. As the Windows-10-based product does not have wires or external cameras, or require a phone or PC connection, users can walk around the objects they create and interact with them using gestures, gaze and voice.
The first generation of HoloLens headsets has been used by NASA and surgeons at Imperial College London, as well the UK’s Manufacturing Technology Centre to help companies unlock to benefits of mixed reality.
The sweepstake costs 200 reward points to enter and is open to entrants from the UK, US, France, Germany and Canada. The winners will be announced here, after the March 3 closing date.
