The latest 1.5v of Kinect for Windows software development kit (SDK) will be available by the end of May. Among the most exciting new capabilities is Kinect Studio, an application that allows developers to record, playback and debug clips of users engaging with their applications. Also coming is what we called “seated” or “10-joint” skeletal tracking which provides the capability to track the head, neck and arms of either a seated or standing user. What is extra exciting about this functionality is that will work in both default and near mode (it enables the camera to see objects as close as 40 centimeters in front of the device)!

Suggested retail price of Kinect for Windows sensor* is HK$1,899.
