Microsoft announces new distribution channels and available date of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 in Hong Kong

Customers can purchase Surface devices in more than 60 outlets across Hong Kong starting October 23

Hong Kong — October 9, 2013 — Microsoft Hong Kong today announced the general availability date and channel plans for its new Microsoft Surface family of tablets – Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 – in Hong Kong.

The new Surface tablets and accessories will be available starting October 23 with more retail, commercial and online at MicrosoftStore.com for customers to buy Surface. With this addition of channels, customers from different segments can purchase the new Surface tablets with greater ease and convenience.

For retail channels, Microsoft is very excited to announce and introduce new retail partners in Hong Kong – PCCW-HKT and Wilson Communications. Together with Fortress and Suning, customers can now purchase Surface devices in more locations in Hong Kong than before. There will be dedicated areas in more than 60 retail stores from these 4 partners to display and demonstrate Surface, with trained sales representatives to deliver a great experience for end-users of Surface. PCCW-HKT is also the first mobile operator provide a special offer to mobile subscribers purchasing Surface.

For commercial channels, as part of its measured and phased approach to the growth of the Surface business, Microsoft welcomed new authorized resellers to the Microsoft Devices Program. The program establishes a newly designated group of device-authorized commercial resellers in Hong Kong. Resellers ready to transact today include Toppan Form and Microware.

In addition to offering Microsoft’s extended warranty and accidental damage, these two resellers bring a variety of value-added services to the Surface family such as asset tagging, custom imaging, kitting, onsite service and support, device recycling, and data protection.
This announcement follows a series of business-channel expansion announcements Microsoft has made beginning in the United States on July 1, and extending now to a total of 29 markets worldwide, including Hong Kong.

For online channel, with the launch of the next-generation of Surface tablets, customers can purchase the Surface devices through MicrosoftStore.com. Starting from October 23, customers can also get access to Surface devices at their fingertips – easily and conveniently.
