June 11, 2019, Hong Kong – Applied Technology Group (Applied Technology), an incubatee of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), today launched two new smart healthcare innovations – Health•Me2 Mobile App and Smart Wristband EWB-1010. As a clinic solution provider, Applied Technology co-developed the new solutions with Microsoft Hong Kong and Hong Kong Health Check Group & Medical Diagnostic Center Limited (HKHC), with a mission to help users embrace a brand-new smart healthcare lifestyle.

Supported by Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, Health•Me2 Mobile App is a free one-stop personalised healthcare management app that allows users to store and retrieve personal medical records, manage appointments to HKHC’s centers and maintain a personalised dietary plan. Users can also conduct self-diagnosis through the proprietary AI-enabled cataract test, with an accuracy of up to 90 percent.

The App also helps improve and monitor users’ health conditions from the Health•Me2 Smart Wristband EWB-1010, with in-depth AI analytics providing recommendations and personalised health news. It offers a unique electrocardiogram (ECG), a blood pressure benchmark based on the user’s latest clinical health record from HKHC. The benchmarking function allows the AI system to monitor and keep track of the user’s health condition, with records being stored in real-time on the secured Microsoft Azure cloud platform. The data can also be synchronised onto the mobile app and shared with the user’s family members if they choose to do so.

Chi Man Lam, CEO of Applied Technology, said: “AI supports doctors to provide more precise medication, and we believe everyone will benefit from it. This is why we are introducing the two innovations today that show the public how they can use AI to better record, manage and improve their wellness. While we are all becoming more conscious of the need to lead a healthier lifestyle, the use of technology is allowing us to do this better, and more conveniently.”

Peter Mok, Head of Incubation & Acceleration Programmes, HKSTP said: “Healthcare technology is one of the key focus areas which HKSTP has been supporting. We are pleased to be part of this launch which is another success case for technology commercialisation at Hong Kong Science Park. Innovative technologies and solutions developed by our incubatees have been successfully adopted in the local healthcare community, and we believe that the two new solutions developed by Applied Technology will be able to address the surging demand for personal healthcare solutions in Hong Kong. ”

Serena Cheung, Director, One Commercial Partner and Small, Medium & Corporate Customers of Microsoft Hong Kong, said: “As the demand for healthcare support increases, technology can play a key role in easing the situation and providing individuals with real-time support. Applied Technology is transforming the healthcare industry by harnessing the power of AI to enable a personalised and secure healthcare experience. Through our partnership with Applied Technology, we are excited to see that Microsoft’s AI technology is being utilised to empower Hong Kong people to take charge of their personal health anytime, anywhere, bringing great social impact to the city,” .

Kevin Cho, CEO of HKHC, said: “In the past, our health system focused on curing diseases but we are now promoting the concept of preventive healthcare. That is why we are collaborating with Applied Technology to digitise and synchronise health-check reports with Health•Me2 to enable real-time benchmarking and health monitoring with the help of wearable devices. We believe this will create a new healthcare experience for our clients, and we will work closely with our partners to help drive the uptake of personal healthcare management in the future.”

To commemorate the launch of the Health•Me2 Mobile App, Microsoft Hong Kong and HKHC are jointly sponsoring 100 free Ophthalmology clinic visits. To enjoy this offer, individuals who have been identified with a potential “Cataract Risk” by the app can make a booking through the app’s appointment function.

In addition, the Health•Me2 Smart Wristband EWB-1010 will be available for purchase at all HKHC branches and in the Health•Me2 e-shop. For details please visit Health•Me2’s website at https://healthme2.com.
