Microsoft Hong Kong nurtures future-ready IT talent with complimentary Microsoft Certifications

The initiative aims to empower 120 recent graduates to be qualified kickstarting their careers at 13 acclaimed leading companies in the technology and consulting sectors

September 23, 2022, Hong Kong – Facing a global IT talent shortage, Microsoft Hong Kong has aligned with 13 organizations to launch Career Spark – Techquisition Day 2022, a platform designed to help next year’s graduates from different majors enter the workforce in the best way possible — equipped with sought-after fundamental digital skills, from Data and AI, to Business Application and Security, etc.

Over 120 students from assorted academic streams have signed up for the platform. Microsoft will offer free virtual training and examinations on Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, Dynamics 365 and Security Fundamentals. These areas empower students to build practical skills that will be vital to their careers such as the ability to innovate in a low-code environment and safeguarding a business against cyber threats.

Upon completing the courses and earning the required certificates, eligible students have the opportunity to begin their tech related roles with 13 well-known companies that collectively aim to recruit 120 graduate positions through Career Spark.

“In the age of AI and automation, the needs of companies are changing faster than ever before. Hong Kong IT players have had difficulty recruiting the talent they need in recent years, including for entry-level positions,” said Maria Hui, Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft Hong Kong. “Just 1,500 students graduate in related disciplines in Hong Kong annually, and  Microsoft Hong Kong believes it is important to nurture more future-ready IT talent backed up by fundamental digital knowledge with the support of partners. Last year, we have upskilled more than 14,000 people with Microsoft certifications, and are committed to continuing to enrich the IT talent pool for the future.”

“This training and certification program hosted by Microsoft Hong Kong allows us to identify talent from all academic disciplines who are passionate about innovation and technology,” said Jarvis Ng, Consulting Leader, Ernst & Young Advisory Services Limited, Hong Kong & Macau. “Programs like this dramatically expand our potential talent pool. This was also the case with the Fasttrack to Business Transformation Consulting Program, which has helped us equip our new generation professionals with practical business skills to support enterprises on their transformation journey.”
