The Xbox Scorpio devkit has this super neat OLED screen that Microsoft has thus far been using as an immediate, visible framerate counter, so developers can assess the performance of their games immediately. And now, it looks like Microsoft has unlocked its functionality, so that it can do more than just display framerates.

Global travel search engine Skyscanner announced its availability on Microsoft’s personal assistant Cortana. Skyscanner’s Cortana skill includes the ability to ask about indicative pricing on any flight route, in addition to the best time to book routes and live flight status information. “This is our first artificial intelligence (AI) skill using short interactions which is uniquely capable of conducting conversations and handling queries over voice and via text on screen,” said Filip Filipov, Product Director at Skyscanner.

Microsoft made a host of announcements at Build 2017 in Seattle this week – Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is coming later this year with a brand-new video editing app and other features like Cloud-enabled clipboard, OneDrive Files On-Demand, Timeline to revisit all your activity, and a whole lot more. But at the end of the day, Build is a developer’s conference and there was a whole lot more in store for those who design apps and services on Microsoft platforms.

There has been no major impact of the WannaCry attack on the country, government officials said, even as they remained on high alert to safeguard key infrastructure such as banking. The moment underscored Microsoft’s investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and its determination to keep up with Alphabet and Apple. Using the new Story Remix app, which is meant to replace the standard-issue Windows 10 Photos app — Microsoft Executive Lorraine Bardeen showed how users can add animations on top of videos that then move along with the action.

Microsoft has taken the unusual step of re-releasing security updates for some older versions of its Windows platforms to counter a massive global wave of cyber ransomware attacks. In a blog post, the US tech giant recalled that it had published an update in March to address the weakness exploited in attacks, a security flaw exposed in documents leaked from the US National Security Agency.
