Microsoft will distribute the final version of the Windows 10 “Creators Update” to testers by the end of this month, enabling anyone to create, share and experience in 3-D and mixed reality, connect people faster, and empower every gamer to be a broadcaster. “The kits will include the Acer headset, along with documentation and access to Windows 10 Insider preview builds and the software development kit (SDK) to enable developers to build mixed reality applications,” said Alex Kipman, Technical Fellow, Microsoft.

LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman joined Microsoft’s board, where he hopes to deepen Microsoft’s Silicon Valley ties and work on artificial intelligence. “From this position, I will continue to focus on helping LinkedIn fulfill its mission of increasing the economic productivity of individual professionals and the companies they work for,” Hoffman wrote.

Microsoft has rolled out a new preview feature for Windows 10, which will allow users to try out games and other productivity apps before purchasing them. Google is also testing a similar feature called Instant Apps on the Play Store.

After a year in beta, Microsoft has launched its Team Foundation Service, a hosted version of its application lifecycle management (ALM) software. “ALM has traditionally been known to be very enterprise heavy, but [this service] could be utilized by people who may not need enterprise scale but could still benefit from tools and services to manage their projects,” said Karthik Ravindran, Senior Director of ALM marketing and management.

The Microsoft Garage team has come up with a latest mobile application, SMS Organizer, to transform and simplify the way of handling SMSes. The new app will enable the users to classify and interpret important messages over others.

Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft Teams, the company’s new chat-based workspace in Office 365. In an interaction with DH, Microsoft Office Marketing Director Alok B Lall said the Microsoft Teams helps people and groups of people be more productive within their organization.

Uber launched real-time ID Check, a security feature which uses Microsoft Cognitive Services to protect both riders and drivers. It prompts drivers to share a selfie before going online to help ensure the driver using the app matches the account available with the company. This prevents fraud and protects drivers’ accounts from being compromised. The service is launched in five cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
