Nadella spent about an hour Monday morning at Rainier View Elementary in Seattle, helping a class of 20 students navigate a software-coding tutorial based on Microsoft’s “Minecraft” game. He was on hand as part of an event to showcase the start of Computer Science Education Week, a technology industry-sponsored effort to promote computer-science education in schools.

Microsoft’s voice-based virtual assistant Cortana has got an update that lets it greet users, play games, and more on ‘Special Days’. Some users are also noticing a new feature that lets them open certain websites simply by saying the site’s name to Cortana.

The Windows 10 Mobile ROM makes Xiaomi’s Mi 4 one of the first mainstream smartphones to run on both, Android 5.1 Lollipop based MIUI 7 and Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mobile OS. The recently launched Mi Pad 2 is the other Xiaomi device that will let users choose between Windows 10 and Android.

Trend Micro Incorporated has announced the integration of Trend Micro Deep Security into the Microsoft Azure Security Center. Customers will now have access to a single view of all Azure subscriptions, live workload monitoring capabilities, and suggested remedial steps to address security issues. Trend Micro Deep Security has been recommended by Microsoft Corp. to help address vulnerabilities, enabling customers to deploy directly from the Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

Microsoft’s shareholders voted Wednesday to elect the company’s 11 nominated board members and said “yes” on an advisory vote on the company’s executive pay packages. Johnson & Johnson executive Sandra Peterson and former Cisco executive Padmasree Warrior join the company’s governing council, replacing Harvey Mudd College President Maria Klawe, who stepped down after six years.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President for Windows and Devices Marketing, Yusuf Mehdi, spoke at the Credit Suisse Technology Broker Conference, and talked about the performance of Xbox this year, attributing Microsoft’s success to the great lineup of games Microsoft had. He said, “Gaming has been pretty big success case. Gaming, think about it in two pieces: there is a traditional Xbox console business where we compete with Sony, and there we have had probably the best year we have ever had for Xbox, and it’s still on the back of the greatest game lineup of the Xbox history.”

Hewlett Packard Enterprise outlined new details about its hybrid cloud partnership with Microsoft in an announcement, saying it will provide a new hardware product that integrates with the Azure cloud platform and build its software to take advantage of Microsoft’s offerings. Companies interested in integrating Microsoft’s Azure cloud with HPE’s on-premises systems can now purchase the new Hyper-Converged 250 for Microsoft Cloud Platform System Standard, an appliance that brings together HPE ProLiant technology and Microsoft’s Azure services.

Microsoft is bringing the Cortana virtual assistant deeper into the business world by combining its capabilities with those of Power BI, the company’s business intelligence and analytics service. With the new integration, Power BI users running the latest version of Windows 10 can ask their computers questions about information stored with the business intelligence service and get answers back in the form of simple numbers, charts and even complex reports, depending on how they have the system set up.
