Acer has unveiled its new product in the tablet-cum-notebook segment called the Acer One 2-in-1. The product that combines a tablet and notebook in one, will be available exclusively on Amazon at a price of Rs 19,999.

Microsoft is rolling out new Universal Office applications as part of the company’s technical preview of Windows 10. The latest versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are accessible in the new Windows Store Beta. The Office suite is optimized for touchscreen and mobile devices, and will be pre-installed for free on Windows 10 smartphones and small tablets.

Microsoft updated its Yammer social network apps for Android and iOS devices with Android Wear and Handoff support respectively. The latest version of Yammer for Android and Yammer for iOS is available for download via the respective app stores.

Microsoft launched a new app called #TileArt for Windows Phone 8.1 users to customise their phones’ home screen and lock screen. The 6MB #TileArt app available on Windows Phone Store has five main features – create custom tile layout by pining photos, upload transparent png images, customise lock screen, share home screen with friends, and access the free #TileArt gallery.

Microsoft has announced plans to deliver a new on-premise version of SharePoint Server, dubbed SharePoint Server 2016. It’s expected to roll out in the later half of 2015. “While we’ve seen growing demand for SharePoint Online, we recognize that our customers have a range of requirements that make maintaining existing SharePoint Server deployments the right decision for some,” wrote Julia White, general manager for Microsoft’s Office Product Management team, in a blog post. “We remain committed to meeting those needs.”

Microsoft has slashed the prices of its popular Xbox 360 gaming console by 19% to Rs 12,990 as the tech firm looks to expand its footprint in India’s gaming market. The 4GB version of the standalone Xbox 360 was earlier being sold for Rs 15,990. Microsoft has also reduced the price of 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect to Rs 21,990 (from Rs 26,990) and 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect to Rs 29,990 (from Rs 31,990).

Microsoft has launched the Weekend Fun programme, which is a new offer being made for weekends. Under this program, Xbox Live gamers will get incentives for playing on the weekend with new schemes. The weekend programme will start from Friday at 6:00 AM IST and will last till Sunday, 11:59 PM IST. Players will get a chance to win Rs. 500 worth of Xbox credit and a month’s membership to Xbox Live Gold.
