Times of India: Indian software market grows 10.7%; Microsoft top vendor: IDC

The research firm,IDC, revealed that political stability and improving economic sentiments helped the software market in India grow by 10.7% in January-June 2014 period as compared to the first half of the previous year. During the period, Microsoft led with 31.8% share of the software vendor market, followed by Oracle at 12%, SAP (6.5%), IBM (5.5%) and Synopsys (4.2%).”There has been a shift in the mindset of users across these industries. IT investments are now made not only for process improvements but also for growing business opportunities and improving customer experience,” it stated.

Microsoft officially announced the acquisition of Accompli -the mobile email management application. The deal enables Microsoft to help people manage their mail on handsets more easily using Google Android or Apple iOS operating systems. “In a world where more than half of email messages are first read on a mobile device, it’s essential to give people fantastic email experiences wherever they go,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Rajesh Jha, in a blog post.
