Microsoft is encouraging people to think of Windows 10 more as a “service” than a traditional piece of purchased software. In its annual corporate report to the SEC, Microsoft laid out its unexpected plans for how it expects Windows 10 to drive the company’s growth. “Our ambition for Windows 10 is to broaden our economic opportunity through three key levers: an original equipment manufacturer (‘OEM’) ecosystem that creates exciting new hardware designs for Windows 10; our own commitment to the health and profitability of our first-party premium device portfolio; and monetization opportunities such as services, subscriptions, gaming, and search,” reads the report.

Microsoft, in an attempt to boost the reach of Windows 10, is now offering a free evaluation version of its enterprise operating system as a trial for 90 days. The Redmond giant on its TechNet Evaluation Centre website lists details about the 90-day free trial for Windows 10 Enterprise.

The Redmond giant has revealed some more details about Windows 10 Mobile, announcing which would be the first Lumia devices to receive a free upgrade when made available. Microsoft Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, or Lumia 930, will be the first among others to experience the new Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft has finally announced the pricing for Windows 10 globally. The company has announced the price officially on the Microsoft India Store and the best part is that its price is lower than the Windows 8.1. Windows 10 Pro is available at Rs 14,999 and Windows 10 Home at Rs 7,999. The offline version of Windows 10 will be available in upcoming weeks.

Microsoft says its’ new Windows 10 operating system is now running on more than 14 million computers, two days after the software was released as a free download.

As expected, Twitter along with Microsoft has announced a new app for Windows 10. The all-new Twitter app is made available alongside the launch of Windows 10 for PCs and tablets. It is a universal Windows app that offers instant access to top tweets, photos and videos, without the need for a login. Users will now see tweets in live tiles from the Start menu.

After making Windows 10 available for free upgrade, Microsoft has geared up over 1500 large format retailers to help customers with seamless upgrade. To encourage upgrading in-store, Microsoft has created programs with major retailers. People who reserved their upgrade to Windows 10 will be notified in waves when their upgrade is ready to be installed. For business customers, Windows 10 is available for deployment within their work environments, and starting Aug. 1, organizations that have volume licensing can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education.
