Microsoft will soon offer three additional ways for enterprises to store data on Azure, making the cloud computing platform more supportive of big data analysis. Azure will have a data warehouse service, a “data lake” service storing large amounts of data, and an option for running “elastic” databases that can store sets of data that vary greatly in size, explained Scott Guthrie, Microsoft Executive Vice President, Cloud and enterprise group at the company’s Build 2015 developer conference.

Home-grown leading smartphone player Micromax has forayed into the laptop category in India and launched the new Micromax Canvas Laptab. Pre-bundled with Windows 8.1 and Office 365, the device draws its appeal from a very smart design, high-definition touch-enabled display, in-built 3G SIM slot for mobile data connectivity and a great memory configuration. The device meets the consumer’s desire for mobility coupled with productivity at Rs 14,999.

Infosys announced an extension to its partnership with Microsoft. As part of this collaboration, the Finacle suite of solutions will be available on Microsoft Azure, allowing banks to utilize Finacle solutions, in addition to the robust capabilities of Azure, enabling them to operate at lower costs, and with greater agility.

Users of the upcoming version of Windows will be able to call on its Cortana voice-driven virtual personal assistant to help them parse their organization’s business intelligence data. Windows 10 will also let users run multiple desktops on a single computer, and even move applications across these different desktops. With Windows 10, Microsoft wants to find the “right balance between familiarity and productivity,” Joe Belfiore, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Operating Systems group.

Two new IT management products from Microsoft continue the company’s push to help customers move their operations to the cloud. The Microsoft Azure Stack software collection combines the Azure infrastructure and platform services so they can be used for an enterprise’s internal operations. “The Azure Stack will make it possible to have Azure in your data center, making it consistent with the public Azure,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the opening of the Ignite conference for IT professionals. The company also announced Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016, the next versions of the company’s server software and system management software.

Adobe and Microsoft have come together in a strategic partnership that will redefine how enterprises manage their marketing, sales and services to better engage with customers across all touch points. The partnership will include the integration of Adobe’s marketing Cloud Solutions with Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM and allow brands to deliver experiences that take all customer engagements into account.

“Our goal is that within two to three years of Windows 10’s release there will be one billion devices running Windows 10,” Terry Myerson said during the keynote address opening Microsoft’s Build developer conference. Later in the keynote, Myerson kept returning to the goal as motivation for developers to create Windows apps, and how they could potentially monetize their work. “With Windows 10, there will be one billion devices ready to run your applications,” Myerson said.
