ALTBalaji has announced the roll out of its Windows 10 Universal Application. The app is available in the Windows 10 app store and works seamlessly across PCs, Laptops, Smart Phones and Surface Tablets running Windows 10 OS. The app will soon be rolled out on other popular Microsoft devices and platforms like Xbox, Surface Hub, and other devices through the Universal Windows Platform.

Microsoft announced the India winners of its Imagine Cup 2017 at a conference in New Delhi. The winners will represent the country at the worldwide finals in July in Seattle and stand against global competitors for a $100,000 prize. “We had got entries from 500-600 institutes last year, but over 1,600 colleges have participated this time,” said Narendra Bhandari, General Manager of Developer Experience and Evangelism, Microsoft India.

Linkedln has crossed the 500-million mark globally, helped by strong addition in user base from markets like India. With a base of over 42 million members and a growth of more than 40 percent in the last two years, India is the second largest market for Linkedln after the US. “Contributing over 35.5 percent to the APAC community of more than 118 million members, India retains the first spot within the region. China follows second with a member base of over 31 million, while Australia comes in third with more than 8 million members,” Linkedln said in a statement.

Microsoft said it now plans on releasing new versions of Windows in a “predictable twice-per-year” pattern: once in March, and once in September. The announcement came packaged with a blog post on Office 365 ProPlus.

Microsoft just unveiled its To-Do Preview, whose early version of a new task management app that works across a wide variety of platforms, including Windows 10, iOS, and Android. A web version of Microsoft To-Do is also available should you want to access your info without having to install an app.

Microsoft announced several new products and services that will empower organizations to easily leverage data driven intelligence in their digital transformation journey. The next generation offerings include first relational database management system (RDBMS) with built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI), SQL Server 2017, Microsoft R Server 9.1 and neural network models, azure cognitive services and Cortana intelligence solution templates.

Microsoft has partnered with a non-profit organization, CHOICE Humanitarian, to launch a new literacy tool for its Edge browser. The tool, which is called Accent, aims to help underprivileged sections of society read, learn, and gain literacy in their native language. The Web-based learning tool is initially being launched in Guatemala to teach local women Spanish.

Microsoft is looking to address one of the biggest pain points in laptops that of battery life draining due to multiple apps running in the background. Now, the company has announced that in the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build, Microsoft is testing a Power Throttling feature that will save overall battery usage.

Microsoft has agreed to acquire, serial space tourist Charles Simonyi’s company, Intentional Software.

Microsoft’s Authenticator app is saving valuable seconds by bypassing passwords for phone-based logins. According to Microsoft, the process is easier than standard two-step verification and significantly more secure than only a password.
