ChannelWorld India: Azure Stack’s third technical preview arrives

Azure Stack, Microsoft’s hybrid cloud system, is getting close to release. The tech giant unveiled the third major public beta for customers that want to test it out. The new release brings a handful of additional capabilities for users to test, like support for Azure D-Series virtual machine sizes and deployment with ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services) to support systems that don’t have constant connections to Azure.

Quartz India: Microsoft’s AI is learning to write code by itself

Microsoft and Cambridge built an algorithm capable of writing code that would solve simple math problems. The algorithm, named DeepCoder, would be able to augment its own ability by also looking at potential combinations of code for how a problem could be solved. “We’re targeting the people who can’t or don’t want to code, but can specify what their problem is,” says Marc Brockschmidt of Microsoft Research, a co-author of the paper.

Microsoft’s ambitious acquisition of LinkedIn is about revenue growth, not cost savings, Chief financial Officer Amy Hood said. “To add more customers. To increase their impact. To have it grow faster. To accelerate our business. To have the technical integration to deliver customer value…. I’m deeply, deeply focused on driving revenue growth,” he said at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference.
