Digit Technology: Microsoft Windows 10 getting virtual trackpad with new update

Microsoft detailed its Creators Update for Windows 10 last month, showcasing all the new features coming to the ecosystem in March, 2017. While Microsoft’s Windows 10 Creators Update focused on new 3D features, it seems that the company is also focused on enhancing the tablet function. Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14965 today, which brings a new virtual trackpad to the operating system. Microsoft’s virtual trackpad is intended to be used as a control for external monitors from a tablet, without connecting a mouse. The new virtual touchpad, when enabled, resides on the taskbar and provides a virtual trackpad on the screen.

Bloomberg: Microsoft shows searches can boost early detection of lung cancer

Microsoft researchers want to give patients and doctors a new tool in the quest to find cancers earlier: web searches. Lung cancer can be detected a year prior to current methods of diagnosis in more than one-third of cases by analyzing a patient’s internet searches for symptoms and demographic data that put them at higher risk, as the Microsoft research published in the JAMA Oncology journal revealed. The study shows it’s possible to use search data to give patients or doctors enough reason to seek cancer screenings earlier, improving the prospects for treatment for lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.

As is usually the case with high profile releases, Arkane Studios’ Dishonored 2 already has several copies floating about before its official release. A Reddit user noted how the patch was 9.1 GB to download on PS4. It’s also been confirmed by Press-Start that the Xbox One version has a 9 GB patch. According to Reddit, it includes improvements to frame rate, texture streaming, reloading time, audio mix, shadowing quality and the usual bug fixes. Mid-mission stats and screenshot previews for saved games have also been added. Patch notes are still due to be released.
