Microsoft showcases automatic tool to tackle security threats on project platform

Microsoft is showcasing an automatic tool to help engineers tackle security threats when collaborating on software development in GitHub, a platform to discover, fork, and contribute to projects. “To help protect our customers, Microsoft Azure (cloud computing platform) runs Credential Scanner, also known as CredScan, which monitors GitHub and checks for specific Azure tenant secrets such as Azure subscription management certificates and Azure SQL (Structured Query Language) connection strings,” Brijesh Desai, principal program manager lead at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post.

Microsoft acquires cloud gaming start-up PlayFab

Microsoft announced that it has acquired PlayFab, a start-up with cloud-based tools for game developers. PlayFab’s portfolio of services includes content management, documentation, forums and A/B testing. “Incorporating PlayFab’s experience, growing network of game developers and powerful gaming-as-a-service platform into our product offering is an important step forward for gaming at Microsoft,” Kareem Choudhry, corporate vice president of gaming at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post.
