CIO India: Microsoft wants to help small businesses book appointments online

Small business owners are getting a new feature tailored just for them in Microsoft Office 365. A full-service system for scheduling appointments for their services over the internet. Microsoft Bookings is a new service that makes it possible for business owners to create their own scheduling page, and then let potential customers make an appointment online. It’s supposed to be a boon for businesses used to running that process through a series of emails, phone calls, or text messages.

NDTV: You can now download Windows 10 apps on the Xbox One

In line with the Windows 10 Anniversary update that’s out in around two weeks, Windows 10 apps have been appearing on the Xbox One. The catch is that users will need to be running the preview update for the console to obtain them. At the moment Netflix and MSN Weather can be installed on the Xbox One. Furthermore, Groove Music will be updated with background music support soon according to Windows Central.

Windows 10 upgrade offer will end by July 29 this year. Microsoft is aiming at running Windows 10 on one billion devices by 2018, and that majorly depends on converting the large batch of Windows 7 users. Most users have avoided switching to Windows 8.1. The extended support commitment by Microsoft ends by the year 2020, and the company doesn’t want hundreds of millions of users still on Windows by then.

In partnership with Amazon.in, Microsoft India has announced a special offer under which consumers can exchange their old laptop or tablet with a brand new Microsoft Surface Pro 4, at a price of just Rs 58,990. The offer is valid for the Surface Pro 4 variant powered by Intel’s Core M processor. Although the offer is available for all consumers, it seems Microsoft is targeting the student demographic with it.

The Indian Express: HP Elite x3 running Windows 10 Mobile will be available next month

HP Elite x3, which was first showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is finally shipping next month. The smartphone is priced at $699 and will begin shipping August 29 in the US. HP had announced Elite x3 under company’s device as a service model. HP’s Elite x3 takes advantage of Windows 10 Mobile’s Continuum feature and HP wants it to be the only device people own.

MSN India: Microsoft gives Groove for iOS and Android a facelift

Microsoft’s Groove apps for iOS and Android weren’t quite as good as the Windows version, but this update was designed to change that. The company has given its music apps for both platforms a facelift that makes them look more like their Windows counterpart. It also bundled a handful of new features with it. The apps now have an Explore view listing the most popular songs, and they now take on a higher resolution when scaled up on big phones. Microsoft also promises faster downloads for offline playbacks and various improvements.

GamingBolt: Xbox One S launching August 2

Microsoft’s Xbox One S, which was announced at E3 this year, will finally be available to purchase from August 2. To begin with, the 2TB SKU, which retails for $399, will be the only configuration that will be offered, though Microsoft will also be offering variants with 1TB of on board storage and 500GB of on board storage for $349 and $299 respectively.

Pokemon Go, an augmented reality game was launched just over a week. Since its release in US, Australia and New Zealand, the game has set several new records on the Apple’s App store. Microsoft is looking into an option to make this game available on Window’s smartphones as well. Microsoft said, ‘We have received an overwhelming amount of feedback requesting that the Store provide this application. The Windows Store team is looking into options with regard to the best way to fulfill this request. We keep you advised on any updates.’

The Telegraph: Boeing and Microsoft reach agreement to advance commercial aviation analytics solutions in the Cloud

Microsoft announced an agreement to build a cloud-based platform for Boeing’s industry-leading portfolio of commercial aviation analytics tools. The two companies intend to work together to transition many of Boeing’s commercial aviation applications into the Microsoft Azure cloud. Judson Althoff, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Commercial Business, Microsoft, said, “At Microsoft, we are focused on empowering organizations across industries to advance their digital transformation. Working with Boeing, we can help businesses across aviation to become more adaptive, innovative and intelligence-driven, including airlines, operators, suppliers, support, and service providers.”

Microsoft will soon launch a new camera app for iOS. It is not just a normal app but an intelligent camera app known as ‘Microsoft Pix’. The app clicks the best moment on its own and enhances the image. The app also automatically sets the ISO and exposure once it is opened and focuses on face by optimizing settings.
