Tech: Microsoft to launch Lumia 735 with 4G LTE in India

Microsoft is all set to launch the new Lumia 735 smartphone in India, and it’s likely that the device will be exclusively available on Amazon only, says a report in BGR India. Key features of the Lumia 735 are: A 4.7-inch HD ClearBlack OLED display with a 1280×720 pixel resolution. It also has a Snapdragon 400 SoC with the CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and the Adreno 305 GPU along with 1GB RAM. There’s 8GB of storage with microSD support.

NDTV: Dropbox app finally available for Windows phone users

The Dropbox app for Windows Phone gives users access to features such as auto backup of images, online and offline access of the user’s favourite files, as well as multi-account support on a single device. The Windows Phone app also gives users the ability to place any of the Dropbox folders on the start screen for quick access. 2GB of cloud storage will also be added to users’ Dropbox accounts once they log in from their Windows devices.

Business Standard: NASA, Microsoft to help scientists in virtual exploration of Mars

US space agency NASA has teamed up with Microsoft to develop a new software that will enable scientists to work on Mars virtually, using wearable technology called Microsoft HoloLens. Developed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a software called OnSight will give researchers the means to plan and, along with the Mars Curiosity rover, conduct science operations on the Red Planet. “OnSight gives our rover scientists the ability to walk around and explore Mars right from their offices,” said Dave Lavery, Program Executive for the Mars Science Laboratory mission at NASA.

Windows 10 is coming to the people. After kicking off Windows 10 with a bevy of business-friendly features, Microsoft drew back the curtain on the operating system’s new consumer-focused features at an event on Wednesday, while simultaneously driving home a vision of an operating system designed to deliver a singular, cohesive experience across a myriad of device types. Microsoft also unveiled its Continuum feature, which dynamically shifts the Windows 10 interface from the Modern UI to the desktop.

BGR: Cortana launches on the PC with Windows 10

Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana has made its debut on PCs. Cortana works on PCs just as it does on the Windows Phone – simply calling it out loud will fire up Cortana. Some of the features include pop up notifications from the bottom of the screen. Users will also have access to the Notebook feature that allows one to control what Cortana can access.

Asus launched a new netbook in India. Called the EeeBook X205, the netbook runs on Windows 8.1 and is priced at Rs 14,999. Highlights of the netbook include its attractive price point, and the impressive set of hardware it manages to pack in. The EeeBook X205 comes with an 11.6-inch display with 1366×768 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Intel Bay Trail Atom Z3735 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

BGR: Microsoft takes on Google Glass, Occulus Rift with HoloLens

At the Windows 10 event, Microsoft announced its first prominent take on augmented reality: Windows Holographic. Microsoft says, with HoloLens, it is finding new ways to visualize, work and create things at work. The HoloLens comes with see-through, “holographic” lenses. It is powered by company’s self-built Holographic Processing Unit and high-end CPU. The headset doesn’t require any connection with a PC. The HoloLens enables one to interact with the environment using gestures like ‘pinch to zoom’.
