23 September 2015 – For the first time in the new version of Imagine Cup, Malaysia was represented by a local team at the World Finals. Inspired by folklore and rituals of the Melanau tribe in Sarawak, Team SwinDesign which comprises of final-year students; Landon Chia, Stella Wang, Sim Jia Ying and their mentor, John Hii – from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus created a horror role-playing game called “Tou: The Sacrifice”, which won them the seat in the Games category at the global competition.
During the World Finals which took place from 27th to 30th July 2015 and upon their return from the Finals, Team SwinDesign’s exploits proved to be a success story with the local media, with cover stories appearing in top tier media such as The Star, New Straits Times, Nanyang Siang Pau and Astro Awani.
