Minki Gil is the Chief Financial Officer for Microsoft in Malaysia. In this role, he oversees all aspects of financial planning, performance management, business operations, controls and compliance, for Microsoft Malaysia to achieve sustainable long-term growth.
Minki has been with Microsoft for almost 10 years. Before he relocated to Malaysia and assumed his current role in March 2022, he was responsible for multiple financial roles for Microsoft in Korea. He started as a Financial Controller in 2013 and was then promoted to Cloud Business Controller.
As a Cloud Business Controller, he led Cloud transformation for customers and partners of Microsoft Korea, providing actionable insights and key business analytics. He played a critical role in Microsoft Korea’s data center launch where he was in charge of the data center investment proposal and oversaw all things involving financial justifications for the data center.
In 2018, he took on the role of Enterprise Controller where he managed customers from the commercial and public sector segments. In this role, he was responsible to drive growth for the Korean subsidiary by providing financial insights while ensuring key financial metrics are delivered.
Prior to working at Microsoft, Minki was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Korea for eight years where he served as a Manager of the Global Corporate Finance department, as well as a Senior Associate of the Assurance department. At PWC, he consulted clients on a broad range of transactions, including M&A, divestitures, financing strategies, and mid-long term business strategies.
Minki has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Korea University. He also holds a certification from the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Some of his hobbies include meditating, playing golf, and traveling. He also recently became interested in quantum physics and learns all about it by watching videos on YouTube.
