SINGAPORE, July 21, 2014 – Over 60 job seekers turned up at the Partners of Microsoft Recruitment Event which was held on 27 May 2014 at the Lifelong Learning Institute. The event was a collaboration between Microsoft Singapore and its partner, CaliberLink, set up by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), to help local professionals better manage their career transitions by providing resources, workshops, programmes and networking platforms designed to empower career resilience. A similar event was also held by these partners in October last year.

At this year’s event, over 60 jobs were offered by 20 of Microsoft Singapore’s partners, ranging from entry level sales executives to IT Technical Director. The event also featured a sharing session on the Singapore ICT manpower landscape, and employment and skills upgrading opportunities in the IT industry, including various Microsoft and WDA training programmes available for companies and job seekers.

Feedback from companies and jobseekers were generally positive. As the event was organised specially for jobseekers with the relevant skills and experience for ICT related positions, the event provided a more customised approach in opening up relevant job opportunities for ICT jobseekers. Companies were also positive about the quality and relevance of the jobseekers, and were looking forward to participate in future events.

Mr Vincent Wong, Director, Small Mid-Market Solutions and Partner Group for Microsoft Singapore said, “This recruitment event has been organised to provide a platform for our partners to meet and hire talents that could contribute to their future growth. At the same time, our local talents also had the opportunity to showcase their capabilities to employers and also learn about the job market in Singapore. This initiative is part of Microsoft’s long-standing commitment to invest in the Singapore IT ecosystem to help our partners transform their businesses, and to equip our local talents with the right skills and capabilities to boost their employability. We are greatly encouraged by the strong turnout this year, and we are confident that future events will be even more successful.”

Mr Azzli Jamain, Director, Creative and Professional Services Division for WDA remarked, “This is one of the initiatives of the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) to bring together our training and industry partners to profile ICT job opportunities, provide upgrading options and development of ICT manpower resources. We will continue to work with partners and explore more initiatives for the betterment of the ICT industry.
