Partners of the Future Needed in Asia Pacific
The digital era in Asia Pacific, defined by cloud and mobility, is accelerating. Disruptive technologies such as Bring Your Own Devices, big data, Internet of Things, mobility and enterprise social are changing enterprise computing requirements. Enterprises and organizations across Asia Pacific are adopting cloud technologies and services as they enable agility, cost-efficiency and ability to deploy next-generation IT services in meeting with business opportunities and challenges. This massive migration to the cloud requires new capabilities in order for IT players to succeed.
A recent IDC study[i] commissioned by Microsoft shows a direct correlation between partner profitability and differentiated value added services for cloud and mobility. The study of more than 200 Microsoft IT partners across nine markets in Asia Pacific, including Australia, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam found that partners with solution plays were more profitable – twice as many solution partners are making more revenues than resellers.
Furthermore, cloud-orientated partners, with more than 50% of their revenue from cloud offerings were found to make 1.8 times more revenues and 1.4 times more gross margins than non-cloud orientated partners.
Gerald Leo, Director, Small Business, Mid Market and Solutions Partner Group, Microsoft Singapore said: “With organizations rapidly evolving their cloud and mobility strategies in order to remain competitive, new capabilities are required for IT players to succed. We are committed to helping our 1,400 partners, vendors and service providers who comprise the Microsoft partner ecosystem in Singapore to be successful, working with them to build and maintain a profitable business in a mobile-first, cloud-first world.”
“We will continue to support our partners and to transform the local IT ecosystem through the right investments in training, incentives and business enablement,” he added.
