Melissa Yoong

Director of Government Affairs, Microsoft Singapore

Melissa Yoong is Microsoft Singapore’s Director of Government Affairs, where she oversees public policy, regulatory engagement, and government relations. She is passionate about fostering innovation, resilience, and trust in Singapore’s digital ecosystem.

Melissa is responsible for driving policy strategy and analysis, brokering public-private partnerships, and navigating the organisation through complex regulatory environments. She leads Microsoft’s efforts on a spectrum of critical issues, including artificial intelligence, privacy, cloud computing, sustainability, and cybersecurity.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Melissa led Amazon Web Services’ Public Policy team in Singapore and Malaysia. Earlier in her career, she held various roles in infrastructure and technology policy across the Singapore government, including the Ministry of Law, Ministry of Communications and Information, and Infocomm Media Development Authority.

Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of Cambridge, and a Master’s degree in Political Science and Arabic from the American University in Cairo.
