Riyadh, April 25 2016: Microsoft Arabia announced the launch of its new tablet “Surface Pro 4” in the Saudi market, which is the only tablet that can replace your laptop, featuring a 12.3-inch display and powerful processing capabilities.

The new tablet is designed to outperform both laptops and tablets as it can fully operate desktop software unlike conventional tablets, in addition to enabling the functions of keyboard typing and using mouse and smart pen and Touch technology. Moreover, it excels other laptops in terms of thickness and weight, making it a versatile device. The device’s casing is designed in a sophisticated method using silver magnesium for maximum protection.

Surface Pro 4 features a long battery life that can operate up to 9 hours of video playback on a single charge, so you can work uninterrupted and take Surface Pro 4 with you on the go all day long. The new tablet features a smart cover with a keyboard and mouse, which makes it more than just an aesthetic cover but also a cover providing high performance and functionality. The new tablet is fitted with a 12.3 inch 10 point multi-touch display that renders content in high resolutions of 2736 x 1824 pixels with aspect ratio of 3:2 providing natural and vivid pixel density of 267 PPI, while the PixelSense Display Technology reduces the reflection of light on the screen for greater comfort while working.

The new tablet is enhanced with a variety of 6th Generation Intel Core i5, and i7 processors, high definition graphics, 4-16 GB RAM options, and SSD storage with capacity ranging from 128 to 512 GB. The tablet is equipped with an 8.0 Megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera and a 5.0 Megapixel Windows Hello face-authentication front-facing camera both with capable of recording 1080p HD videos.

Surface Pro 4 includes various ports for different uses and needs, including full-size USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, microSD card reader, Micro USB, headset jack, Type cover port that enables you to use the Type cover (a slim keyboard that allows users to go from tablet to laptop mode). The tablet offers touch functionality or typing via keyboard or writing with the Surface Pen or even voice commands.

The Surface pen has become a major part in the work environment, with its applications available on the main screen even if the device is locked. What distinguishes this pen is the system’s ability to recognize and "interpret” the handwriting of the user, where Windows converts it into digital notes displayed on the screen and analyzes it to immediately introduce related information; such as putting a line under a key word written by the user next to many words so that the user clicks on it to display search results.

The thickness of the device is around 8.45 mm and it weighs less than 786 Grams. In addition to its high-performance, the device features a new cooling mechanism that keep it cool without noise. It also offers a number of sensors, including ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass.

With full Windows 10 Pro, Surface Pro 4 enables users to run apps and desktop programs like Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop side-by-side and does not limit their use as in other tablets, in addition to the security features it provides because of its compatibility with Windows 10 Pro.  Moreover, the enterprise-level security of Windows Hello helps keep users’ content secure. The tablet enables users to write directly on web pages through the Microsoft Edge browser.

Many of the accessories of Surface Pro 4 are available in the Saudi market including the glass Type Cover which makes the device a complete multi-use computer while providing the ability to write or draw using Surface Pen packing 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and Palm Block technology to prevent identifying the palm’s resting as a touch order which improves the user’s convenience while writing with the pen, in addition to the customized pencil tips that can be swapped. When clicked once, the OneNote application will instantaneously open to take notes, even while in the idle mode.

There are also dedicated surface docks to connect your tablet to accessories and other devices needed by the user, including higher definition video ports, Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 3.0 ports and one audio port, in addition to VGA, HDMI, Wireless Display Adapter which facilitates running presentations and connecting the device to external monitors.

Engineer Rakan Tarabzouni, Head of Windows OS & Devices at Microsoft Arabia, said: “Surface Pro 4 makes it easier for both individuals and businesses to accomplish more in comparison with other devices as it uses the Windows 10 operating system, accompanied by the 6th generation Intel processors, so not only can it run general applications, it also runs desktop programs to perform specialized work on the go and while traveling, especially tasks that rely on cloud services. The outstanding performance of the device comes as a result of several factors; mainly Microsoft’s approach to adopt the concept of advanced business performance via mobile and compact devices, and the Bring Your Own Device BYOD initiative, in addition to putting priority on accessories that allow Surface Pro 4 to replace a laptop”.

Kareem Sherif, Intel Saudi Arabia country manager, said: “6th Gen Intel Core processors deliver some of the most significant advancements in computing that we’ve ever seen, the new 6th Gen Intel Core-based systems are more responsive than ever with enhanced performance, battery life and security. And the combination of 6th Gen Intel Core processors and Windows 10 can enable amazing new PC experiences like logging into your computer with your face and no wires environment make this the best time ever to buy a new computer”.
